Bone Regeneration
At Perio Connect, we believe that a lasting smile starts from the ground up. Whether you are planning for a dental implant or looking to save a natural tooth, Bone Regeneration is a sophisticated periodontal therapy designed to restore the hidden support system of your mouth.
What is Bone Regeneration?
In the past, losing bone due to gum disease or tooth loss was considered irreversible. Today, through advanced Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR), we can actually "regrow" lost bone.
By placing specialized grafting materials and protective membranes into areas where the bone has thinned or receded, we provide a scaffold that encourages your body’s natural healing cells to rebuild healthy, dense bone.
Why is Bone Regeneration Necessary?
You might require bone regeneration if you are experiencing any of the following:
Preparing for Dental Implants: Implants need a certain height and width of bone to stay securely anchored. Regeneration ensures there is enough "foundation" to support your new tooth.
After a Tooth Extraction: When a tooth is removed, the surrounding bone naturally begins to shrink (atrophy). We perform Socket Preservation at the time of extraction to keep the bone intact.
Treating Periodontal Disease: Severe gum disease can create "craters" or defects in the bone around your natural teeth. Regeneration helps stable these teeth and prevents further loss.
Sinus Augmentation: If you need implants in the upper back jaw, we can perform a "Sinus Lift" to create enough bone depth for a safe and stable placement.

What to Expect During the Process
The procedure is remarkably straightforward for the patient:
Placement: The grafting material is placed precisely where more bone is needed.
Protection: A small, dissolvable or removable membrane is placed over the graft to keep gum tissue out and let bone cells grow undisturbed.
Integration: Over the next 3 to 6 months, your body naturally replaces the grafting material with your own living bone.
The Result: A strong, stable ridge ready for a dental implant or a healthier, more stable natural tooth.
Clinical Insight: Think of bone regeneration like a trellis for a garden. The graft provides the structure, and your body provides the growth. Once the "vines" (your new bone) have grown in, the structure is permanent.
